Green Deal Advisers
Every home is different and as such there is no guarantee that the best energy-saving measures in one home will be right for the next. For that reason, all homes wishing to have a Green Deal will need an impartial assessment from an accredited Adviser (sometimes also called a Green Deal Assessor).
These Advisers will visit your home and undertake a detailed, technical survey as well as assessing how you use your home. Following this they will set out which measures are suitable for you. Central to this advice is the scheme's "Golden Rule" which states that any improvements should be expected to save at least as much on a household's bills as they are expected to make in repayments.
Advisers may be independent, or may be affiliated to providers and installers. Many will be seasoned energy assessors, surveyors, architects or other building professionals, while others will be new to the scheme. As with any professional advice, it's always sensible to try and look out for someone that has both the qualifications and experience.
